Personal style inspiration.
Lisa BonetMother, actress & empress of bohemian style.

Who wasn’t influenced by Lisa Bonet’s style and wardrobe choices on The Cosby Show? One can’t just give thanks to the whomever was the wardrobe stylist for the legendary show. Bonet definitely had her own definitive style, it was shown on the show and off.

Back in those days, she was kind of known as the odd one. Her style wasn’t as clean cut and prepped-out as the other “It black girls” at the time like Robin Givens and Jasmine Guy but who’s photos still float around tumblr in abundance?

Lets not ignore that curly hair, vintage and bohemian style is the staple look for a lot of urban girls these days. Why not? Its fun, carefree and hippie-like. These present times, with its financial and societal restrictions, at times going the “I don’t give a fuck” route of style yet still giving a fuck is the road most travelled. Its what’s in now. We’re careless but still care, no? We research around for vintage stores with diverse arrays of ancient relics of style. We rummage through our mothers & grandmothers’ storage closets for foreign fashion from a time before we were even embryos. We combine modern and archival deadstock fashion and introduce it into the present under the umbrella of creative vintage style. But let’s always remember who started it or better yet who’s style we were able to feast our young developmental eyes on.

Hers is the style I prefer. It inspires my own style and many others. Remembrances of Bonet’s style is still prominent decades after the Cosby Show & A Different World’s syndication and will continue to inspire.
